S355J2 Steel 1.0577 Material Properties & Equivalent

S355J2 Steel (Material 1.0577)

S355J2 steel (1.0577) is a quality grade of S355 steel, which is one of the non-alloy structural steels commonly used in Europe. According to EN 10025-2: Hot rolled products of structural steels, S355 steel is divided into 4 quality grades, namely:

  • S355JR (1.0045),
  • S355J0 (1.0553),
  • S355J2 (1.0577), former names: S355J2G3 and S355J2G4 in EN 10025:1990,
  • S355K2 (1.0596), previous names: S355K2G3 and S355K2G4 in EN 10025:1990.

EN 10025 S355J2 equivalent ASTM A992/A992M; Australian AS/NZS 3678: Grade 350 L20; Canadian G40.20/G40.21: 350WT (55WT); Chinese GB/T 1591: Q355D; and Indian standard IS 2062: E350.

EN 10025 S355J2 Meaning

S355J2 Meaning: “S” stands for “Structural steel”; 355 indicates that the material has a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa when the nominal thickness is ≤ 16mm; and “J2” indicates that the material has a minimum impact energy of 27J at -20°C (-4 °F).
