AISI 1095 Steel

SAE AISI 1095 steel is one of the most widely used 10 series steels, with good performance and low cost, with appropriate toughness and wear resistance, but poor corrosion resistance.


AISI SAE 1095 carbon steel can be made into steel billets, steel powder, which can be used as tool steel, blade steel, spring steel. 1095 high carbon steel uses mainly include chef knife, kitchen knife, pocket knife, Bowie knife, hunting knife, doctor blade, wear parts, various springs, ploughshares, and brake discs.

1095 steel is typically normalized at 843-900 °C (1550-1650℉), and should be cooled in still air.

Full Annealing for Small Steel Forgings

Heat treatment to 790-830 °C (1450-1525 °F), slow cooling from 790 °C (1450 °F) at a rate of 28 °C (58 °F)/hour to 655 °C (1215 °F).


Tempering temperature of 1095 steel can be from 204-649 °C (400-1200°F) after normalizing and water quenching, and the corresponding Rockwell hardness can be obtained.


The austenitizing of 1095 steel is often carried out under the induction hardening process of the workpiece at a temperature of 790-815 ° C (1450-1500 ° F), and the quenching medium is water or brine. If oil quenching is used, the austenitizing temperature is 815-870 °C (1500-1600 °F).
